Introduction

The district derives its name from its headquarter town. At the time of 1981 Census, it was the sub-division of the, then, Khuzdar district. Awaran was notified as a separate district on 4th November, 1992.

 Location

Awaran is located in the northern Sindh. It lies between 25° 26 and 27° 28' north latitudes and 64° 08' and 66° 10' east longitudes

Boundary

The district is bounded on the north-west by Panjguar and Kharan districts, on the north-east by Khuzdar district, on the east by Lasbela district, on the south by Lasbela and Gwader districts and on the west by Kech district.

Area

The total area of the district is 29510 square kilometers.
