Introduction

Lasbela was notified as a district on 30th June, 1954. The district derices its name from 'LAS' signifying a plain and "Bela" its principal town, with "Uthal" as its headquarters.

Location

The district Lasbela is situated on the southern coast of Balochistan between 24° 53' to 26° 15' north latitudes and 65° 15' and 67° 27' east longitudes.

Boundary

It is bounded on the north by Khuzdar district, on the east by Dadu, Malir and Karachi(West) districts of Sindh province, on the south by the Arabian sea and on the west by Gawadar and Awaran districts.

Area

Total area of the district is 15153 square kilometers. The district is 16 to 295 feet high from the sea level.
