Introduction
The district derives its name from Mastung
town.According to locals word "Mastung" is made up of Mas and Tung.In
Barhvi language Mas means Mountain and Tung mean Hole.Mastung was given
another name (Khudaabad)by ahmedzai Khans of Kalat state but it never
gained popularity.At the time of the 1981 Census Mastung was part of the
,then,Kalat district.It became a district on 31 st December 1991.
Location
District Mastung lies between
29? -03' and 30?- 13' north latitudes and between
66?-25' and 67?-29' east longitudes.
Boundary
It is bounded on the north
by Quetta district,on the east by Sibi district and Bolan
district, on the South by Kalat district and on the
west by Chaghi District.
Area
The total area of district Turbat
is 5896 square kilometers.
