LGO 2001/05, Article 137 on Transparency, states: “Every citizen shall have the right to information about any office of the District Government, Tehsil Municipal Administration, and Union Administration.”   In contribution towards ensuring this right, the LCIN aims to promote best practices at the local levels of Public Administration, notably on transparency and accountability issues.   This is achieved, in part, by widening the scope of dialogue, participation and audience in regard to local governance issues of interest such as CCBs, Police-community relations, Accounts and Audit and local service delivery.  Under this component, a series of thematic LCIN television programs called “Government and You” are developed at District-level under a panel discussion format, with the participation of local elected officials and functionaries.
