Introduction

Abbotabad is named after its founder James Abbott, Hazara's first British Deputy Commissioner. It is at a distance of 121 kilometers from Islamabad via Hasan Abdal. It is 1220 meters above sea level and is situated at the crossroads of most of the areas of tourist interest in Pakistan like Nathiagali, Thandiani, Kaghan Valley, Skardu, Gilgit and Khunjrab. Abbotabad is extremely beautiful, charming andpleasant district located at the base of himalayan mountain.

Location

The district lies from 33° 50' to 34° 23' north latitudes and 72° 35' to 73° 31' east longitudes.

Boundary

It is bounded on the north by Mansehra district, on the east by Muzaffarabad district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Rawalpindi district.

Area

The area of the district is 1,967 square kilometers.
