Introduction
Karak was upgraded to district status on 1st
July 1982. Prior to that it was a sub-division of Kohat district. It
comprises Karak, Banda Daud Shah and Takht - e Nasrati sub-divisions.
Location
The district lies between 70 ° 40' and 71 °
30' north latitudes and 32 ° 48' and 33 ° 23' east longitudes.
Boundary
The district is bounded by Mianwali District
on South-East, Lakki Marwat district on South, Hangu and Kohat districts
on North and Waziristan agency and Bannu District on West.
Area
The total area of the district is 3,372
square kilometers.
