Introduction

Nowshera is the name of the district which is a combination of two words Now-Sheer means "New City", a persian word changed into Nowshera with the passage of time. This city is predominantly Cantonment area. District Nowshera is located along the banks of river Kabul.

Location

District Nowshera is located from 33° 41' to 34° 10' north latitudes and from 71° 39' to 72° 16' east longitudes.

Boundary

It is bounded on the east by district Attock of Punjab province, on the west and to the north-west side lie districts of Peshawar and Charsadda. On the northern side are the districts Mardan and Swabi and on the south is Kohat district.

Area

The total area of Swabi district is 1,748 square kilometers.
