Introduction

Lakki Marwat was created as an administrative district on the 1st july,1992.

Prior to that it was a part of Bannu district. The district derives its name from the district headquarter town. It lies at the tail of Marwat area.

Location

The district lies between 32' -17` to 32' -53 north latitudes and 70' -23` to71' -16` east longitudes.

Boundary

The district is bounded on the north by  Bannu and Karak districts.On the east by Mainwali district of punjab province.on the south-east by Dera Ismail khan district, on the south -west by Tank district and on the west by Tribal Area South Wazirstan Agency .

Area

The total area of the district is 3,164 square kilometers.
